I知 Bored, I知 Chairman of the Bored!

Thu Jul 21, 2005, 7:26 PM
...And even Evel Knievel tried to wield the deadly Gamma Ray.

Mood: Cynical Cynical
Listening to: Clampdown -The Clash

Welp, I finaly got my long overdue subscription!
I guess they knew I never intend to pay for this!
HA HA HA!

In fact why would anyone pay? One of the reasons I got started on DA is it's free! I'm not gonna pay for it even if it is only five bucks. But I guess the real reason is, common let's face it "Commie-Boy" looks so much better with The "~" sign in front of it than the * sign. It's just more pleasing to the eye!

Anyway, during the week that I've come back from Japan and leave for Colorado I've gotten two days of shooting the Movie, and an Improv Practice, and with all the oganizing that needs to be done I'm fairly exausted all the time. But all of the raw footage looks extreamly funny! So I've got about 4 more days of shooting to do when I get back, and We've got to edit, much editing is required.

So I'll be gone on sunday for two weeks to Colorado to wear my ass out backpacking for 8 days, not apealing to most, extreamly apealing to me!

Thats another thing, The subscription will be running mostly while I'm In Colorado! So I guess when I get back I'll have my nice litttle "~" sign back

But Untill then,
I'm bored, I'm Chairman of the Bored!
-Iggy Pop

What's a "Footer"? That's not even a real word!

ahh, the legend of the Vanilla Tapes...
The year was 1979 and The Clash had just begun recording London Calling. The original, unedited, unproduced, naked, if you will, recordings had been finished. Then, all of a sudden, the only copy of the original tapes - before editing - just disappeared. It was assumed at the time that the tapes were in a box along with some other items that Johnny Greene left on the London Subway. The tapes were assumed lost and the album was re-recorded in the fashion that you know now. About a year ago, Mick Jones was going through some old Clash-era things of his in his garage and found the very "Vanilla Tapes" that were presumed lost 25 years before. This was months before the planned release of the London Calling 25th Anniversary Legacy Edition - just in time to copy them and include them in the re-release (the Legacy Edition also includes a DVD with: documentary on the making of London Calling, interviews with the members, producers, record execs, et cetera, video of the recording of London Calling where you can see Guy Stevens going through all the antics he was known for, and Clash promo videos. There's also a 50-page-ish booklet telling the story behind each song on London Calling).

The Vanilla Tapes aren't nearly as good as the final product of London Calling, but they include some songs that didn't make the final cut and different versions of some songs that did make it.

Crazy! It's amazing how much of the Clash was put up in garages, like the Vannilla Tapes and HellW10,
I Suppose they really were a garage band!
I might have to look into the Vannilla Tapes DVD, not so much for the songs that didn't make it, but for the Documentary on the making of London Calling.
I was looking at the Rock n' Roll section of a bookstore and I came upon a full book that explained the story of every Clash song. I was tempted to get it but my lack of money at the monent persuaded me otherwise.
